We introduce the story of Carolina Sastre, Director of Neuropsychology at NeuronUP and one of the people who watched this project come to life when it was just an idea on paper.
Her career perfectly exemplifies how a commitment to health, empathy, and ambition to transform neuropsychology can come together to shape the leading digital neurorehabilitation platform.
Carolina Sastre, Director of Neuropsychology at NeuronUP
What does it feel like to be the person responsible for bringing clinical rigor and scientific content to a technology tool from the very beginning? Today, we delve into the story of Carolina Sastre, one of the first professionals to join the team, whose contribution and growth have profoundly shaped the identity, development, and scalability of our product.

Carolina brings her talent to our headquarters in Barcelona and has dedicated more than 15 years to NeuronUP.
She joined us when the project was entirely intangible and, successfully taking on the challenge of bringing science and code together within a multidisciplinary team, has led the theoretical foundation of each of the activities on our platform.
Her journey is a living reflection of perseverance, expert vision, and exceptional human qualities within a sector—the digital health sector—that is advancing by leaps and bounds.
At NeuronUP, we understand that innovation has no soul without people who put their hearts into what they do. Behind our screens is a team known for its humility, its ability to listen, and its firm desire to improve the daily lives of patients and therapists.
Carolina reveals what this 15-year journey has been like, how she experienced the company’s incredible transformation, and why NeuronUP is the perfect setting for building a career with a genuine purpose:
-What do you do at NeuronUP?
“I am currently responsible for the theoretical adaptation of neurorehabilitation and cognitive stimulation activities, as well as collaborating on projects such as NeuronUP Evaluation and NeuronUP Academy.
I also support various research projects and contribute to sharing specialized knowledge by hosting the NeuronUP Talks podcast.”
-How has your career at NeuronUP developed?
“Over 15 years, during which the company has gone from 0 to 100 (we have experienced tremendous growth over the past year and a half), I can say that I have done a little bit of everything.
At the beginning, we had to sit down and carefully establish the foundations of the idea. Once the decisions had been made, we began shaping the platform, its various features, and—what depended most on me—designing the activities, both pencil-and-paper and digital, classified by intervention areas and levels. Written down like this, it may sound easy, but it was anything but easy at the time.
We were a small team of young people from different fields who spoke entirely different languages (put a neuropsychologist, a programmer, an electrical engineer, and a designer around a table and see what happens). And, on top of that, there was no AI!
Once we got through those initial stages, the project began to take off and we had to go out and sell. That was not directly my responsibility, but I did have to give countless presentations, explanations, and talks, and provide customer support…
Little by little, we became established, and I was able to focus more on the pure neuropsychology side of things. I have always continued with the development of activities, but I also found time to collaborate on various research projects, from which I learned a great deal.
During this latest phase, when the possibilities have expanded enormously thanks to external investment, I have been able to broaden my knowledge and experience through projects we once dreamed about but that were practically unfeasible. Being able to develop the digital assessment project is an incredible opportunity to improve our field, changing a firmly established paradigm that can nevertheless be improved in many ways.
Watching the NeuronUP Academy project come to life. Collaborating on increasingly powerful research. Working alongside people with exceptional knowledge and experience. Helping share knowledge. Along with many other small things that make a real difference in the lives of patients, users, and, of course, professionals.
I am proud of the journey.”
-What do you like most about your work?
“Being part of a project whose purpose is to contribute a small part toward making the world a better place, but above all, one that radically changes the daily lives of patients and their loved ones.
Also, I love the people at NeuronUP. They are fantastic, hardworking people who know how to be serious when needed, but can also make you smile and offer support when you need it.
Having “beautiful people” by your side always makes life better.”
-Why would you recommend building a career at NeuronUP?
“It is a project with a wonderful foundation, a human purpose, and a clear need in today’s world.
In addition, on an individual level, this is a time when you can grow tremendously, learning in different areas alongside outstanding professionals.”
-Define NeuronUP in 3 words
“Human, constantly evolving, ambitious.”
