We’re launching 9 new assessment tests in NeuronUP, including highly requested measures such as the Stroop Test and the Tower of Hanoi Test.
New assessment tests
Inhibition tests:
We’re launching two new inhibition tests: the Stop Signal Test and the Stroop Test.

1. Stop Signal Test
What does it involve?
In this test, the person must respond to the direction of the arrow shown on the screen by pressing ‘X’ if it points left or ‘N’ if it points right, but if a stop signal appears, they must not press any key.
What does this test assess?
The Stop Signal Test makes it possible to assess response inhibition very specifically, as well as processing speed.
2. Stroop Test
What does it involve?
In the Stroop Test, the person must indicate whether the word shown matches the color it is written in.
What does this test assess?
It assesses inhibition, selective attention, and processing speed.
Attention tests:
In this new release, we’re also including two new attention tests: the Continuous Performance Test and the brief auditory attention test.

3. Continuous Performance Test
What does it involve?
In the Continuous Performance Test, the person must respond as quickly as possible to each letter that appears, except when it is the letter X. In that case, they must not respond.
What does this test assess?
It measures sustained attention and inhibition.
4. Brief auditory attention test
What does it involve?
The person must focus only on the relevant aspect of an auditory sequence and ignore the rest of the stimuli.
What does this test assess?
It assesses selective attention.
Processing speed tests:
There are three new processing speed tests: the Symbol Digit Test, the Trail Making Test, and the Color Trails Test.

5. Symbol Digit Test
What does it involve?
The Symbol Digit Test involves identifying each symbol and entering the corresponding number according to the key shown.
What does this test assess?
It assesses processing speed and inhibition.
6. Trail Making Test
What does it involve?
This test involves connecting numbers and letters distributed across the screen in the correct order.
What does this test assess?
It assesses processing speed and inhibition.
7. Color Trails Test
What does it involve?
The Color Trails Test involves connecting numbers and letters in a specific order, alternating the color.
What does this test assess?
It measures processing speed.
Planning test
8. Tower of Hanoi Test
What does it involve?
A classic task in which the person must rearrange several pieces of different sizes to build the same tower shown as the goal on the indicated peg, moving only one piece per turn and following the rule that a larger piece cannot be placed on top of a smaller one.
What does this test assess?
It assesses planning, reasoning, and working memory.
Decision-making test:
9. Balloon Task, or BART
The person will see a balloon on the screen. They can inflate it to earn coins, but if it bursts, they will lose what they accumulated in that balloon. At any time, they can stop and claim their coins. It places the person in a context of risk and reward.
It assesses decision-making and inhibition in situations of uncertainty.
In the following video, our colleague neuropsychologist Valeria Medina explains what each new assessment test involves and what functions it assesses.
