Three expanded activities to practice Theory of Mind with children: 'What do they Think?', 'What do they Expect to Find?', and 'What do they Believe other People Think?'. They focus on understanding others' mental states through false-belief tasks.

Who benefits from the Theory of Mind activities?

Children with autism or those who struggle to infer others' thoughts and feelings. Activities use real-life situations and graded tasks to improve social cognition and perspective-taking.

What does the 'What do they Think?' activity teach?

First-order false-belief tasks that help children infer what another person believes about an object's location or situation, using simplified stories and a supporting video example.

What does the 'What do they Expect to Find?' activity teach?

False-belief tasks involving unexpected contents that train children to predict others' expectations versus reality, enhancing understanding of mistaken beliefs about objects or situations.

What does the 'What do they Believe other People Think?' activity teach?

Second-order false-belief tasks that practice reasoning about one person's beliefs about another person's thoughts, supporting higher-level perspective-taking and complex social reasoning.

What accessibility and format improvements were added to the activities?

Seven new sheets, unique characters and family relationships, child-friendly typography, and easy-read layout (left-aligned, one concept per line, clear language). Available digitally in Spanish, English, Portuguese, Catalan; printable in Spanish and English.

Activities to work on Theory of Mind with children

Today we present the expansion and optimization of three activities to work on Theory of Mind (ToM) with children. Due to their heavy use, seven more sheets have been addí to the activities What do they Think?, What do they Expect to Find? y What do they Believe other People Think?

In addition to adding new sheets, we have also taken the opportunity to make improvements to the sheets that already existí for these activities. Specifically, the following improvements have been made:

the principles of easy-to-read have been followí:
