Profile of Saül Martinez-Horta
Saül Martinez-Horta is a neuropsychologist in the Movement Disorders Unit of the Neurology Service of the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau where he co-coordinates the specialized Huntington’s disease clinic and coordinates the specialized clinic for rare diseases presenting with movement disorders.
He is also a researcher of the Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders Group at the Sant Pau Biomedical Research Institute and at the Center for Networked Biomedical Research on Neurodegenerative Diseases (CIBERNED) of the Carlos III Health Institute.
He is also coordinator of the Cognitive Phenotype Working Group and a member of the scientific advisory board of the European Huntington’s Disease Network, coordinator of the Working Group on Neuropsychology of Movement Disorders and a member of the Neuropsychology Section of the Official College of Psychology of Catalonia.
In private practice, he is director of the Neuropsychology unit at the Centro de Diagnóstico e Intervención Neurocognitiva de Neurología Instituto Universitario Barcelona.
His clinical and research activity focuses on movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and especially Huntington’s disease. He has published more than 100 original scientific articles in international indexed journals, accumulating an H-index of 25 in 2023, 8 book chapters, and has delivered multiple presentations at national and international conferences.
He has participated in more than 20 competitive research projects, and multiple clinical trials in Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease and atypical parkinsonisms.
He is a member of various scientific societies such as the International Movement Disorders Society, the European Huntington’s Disease Network, the Spanish Society of Neurology and the Catalan Society of Neuropsychology, among others.
He collaborates with various training programs associated with the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the UOC and is also a regular reviewer for several first-quartile journals in the areas of neurology, psychiatry, neuropsychology and neuroscience.
