This week we present, thanks to the suggestion from the El Arenal center, an activity to teach children money management. We talk about Sort your piggy bank, an exercise with high ecological value so that children become familiar with and identify the coins and banknotes of each country.
What does it consist of?
Children have to sort coins and banknotes by their value. In this video we show you how to play:
What does this activity work on?
This activity works on visual gnosis, since children have to detect, identify and differentiate each coin and banknote, and selective attention because they are presented mixed at the same time.
What is the objective of this exercise?
The objective of this exercise is to teach children money management. Children must correctly identify all coins and banknotes so they do not confuse them.
High ecological value
Sort your piggy bank is an exercise with high ecological value. In our daily lives money management is fundamental, and not only for adults, but also for children.
Although children do not handle large amounts of money, it is necessary that they are autonomous and learn to pay, to watch for change, to be aware of the value of things, to save…

Ways to work with this activity to teach children money management
Sort your piggy bank is a generator and, as with all NeuronUP generators, it generates unlimited and ecological activities. The child will learn what to do (place the coins and banknotes in their place), but they will never be able to memorize it, since it will always be a different activity.
And, like every generator, it has three ways to work:
1. Correction mode
The platform corrects the child after each action.
2. Free mode
The platform does not correct the user until the end of the exercise.
3. Personalized mode
This mode allows us to customize each generator to the needs and circumstances of each child.
You will be able to customize:
3.1. General aspects:
- The operation: correction mode or free mode.
 - Maximum errors.
 - The maximum time.
 - Whether you want a visible timer for the activity or not.
 - Whether you want to include an inactivity warning or not.
 - Modify the execution instructions.

3.2 Parameters:
- Currency type (euro, dollar, pound, peso, etc.).
 - Number of elements.
 - Banknotes and coins to include.

3.3. Adaptability
You can choose whether the movement is draggable or only by tapping the coin or banknote to select it.
In the following video we show you how to customize this exercise:
