Were you interested in our Press Conference with Adrià Tort Merino on NeuronUP Talks? In this article we share the bibliography recommended by this neuropsychologist to further explore neurodegenerative dementias.
Who is Adrià Tort Merino
Adrià Tort-Merino is a clinical neuropsychologist in the Alzheimer and Other Cognitive Disorders Unit of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona and an accredited postdoctoral researcher at IDIBAPS.
With more than ten years of experience in the assessment and treatment of people with mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, his work focuses on identifying early cognitive markers that allow an earlier diagnosis and more effective intervention. His research has demonstrated the presence of subtle deficits in memory and language in preclinical phases of Alzheimer’s, as well as differences in the neuropsychological profile between early-onset and late-onset Alzheimer’s.
His work is especially relevant for professionals who run cognitive stimulation programs, since it provides evidence on how to detect minimal changes in cognitive performance and adapt therapies to promote brain plasticity and slow deterioration. In addition, he has studied phenomena such as accelerated long-term forgetting in carriers of the APOE ɛ4 allele, opening new avenues to understand how long-term forgetting occurs and how to intervene in a more personalized way.
Press Conference with Adrià Tort Merino on NeuronUP Talks
NeuronUP Talks returns with a second season full of conversations and valuable content aimed at specialists who work in cognitive stimulation and neurorehabilitation.
In this first episode, Carolina Sastre sits down with neuropsychologist Adrià Tort Merino to talk about the neurodegenerative dementias.
Early assessment of cognitive impairment, new psychometric tools and longitudinal data, the importance of clinical judgment and the relationship with the patient; and the current limitations and challenges in clinical practice, are just some of the points the two neuropsychologists address on this occasion.
If you want to improve your clinical practice, update your knowledge and rethink how we evaluate what is not yet visible, you cannot miss this season opener.
